Great service. Gorgeous food We got 2 starters 2 mains and 4 cokes for £60 They do a lunch time menu during the week 3 courses for £20 too. Even had cute toiletries in the ladies room which I’ve not seen much of before. Such as different perfumes, hairspray, etc

Great staff very friendly. Reasonable priced and amazing food, fast service, and clean environment. The deserts were another level that will definitely return to try the entire desert menu. Staff were funny and welcoming but a bit ginger.

What a fantastic Sunday lunch - wonderful quality particularly the Yorkshire pudding which was exceptional. Loved the stuffing too. Great portions - enough to satisfy all appetites but the quality of the food is extremely good also. Try the melt in the mouth featherblade beef with the home made horseradish. Highly recommend a visit if you haven't eaten here.

Gastro pub in the village, my husband lived as a child. Sadly, we visited for a family lunch on the day of his sisters funeral. The food was wonderful as it always has been. It was nice to remember my husbands sister here as the last time we came, it was when we were all together. Great pub that my husbands dad used to go to as well!

Oh. My. Goodness. Hold onto your hats, folks, because I have just experienced a Sunday roast so utterly sublime, so breathtakingly brilliant, it has fundamentally altered my understanding of what food can be. I'm not being dramatic. Okay, maybe a little. But only because this culinary masterpiece served at The Talbot deserves ALL the drama! From the moment I stepped inside, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of pure, unadulterated Sunday bliss. The gentle murmur of happy diners, the clinking of cutlery – it was the soundtrack to a perfect afternoon. And then, then came the star of the show. The roast beef? Forget everything you thought you knew about beef. This wasn't just cooked; it was caressed by heat until it reached a level of tender perfection that made my eyes water slightly. Each slice was a velvet dream, practically dissolving on my tongue and releasing a symphony of meaty flavour that had me questioning all my life choices that didn't involve this exact moment. And the Yorkshire pudding! Oh, the Yorkshire pudding! It was a golden, airy cloud, a magnificent vessel perfectly designed to soak up the rich, deeply savoury gravy. I swear I heard angels singing as I took my first bite. It wasn't just a side; it was a spiritual experience. Let's not even get started on the vegetables. Each one – the roasted carrots with just the right hint of sweetness, the perfectly steamed broccoli with a delightful little bite, the crispy yet fluffy roast potatoes that could solve world peace if presented to the right leaders – each one was a tiny masterpiece in its own right. They weren't just afterthoughts; they were integral players in this glorious Sunday orchestra. And the gravy! Oh, the gravy! It was like liquid gold, a rich, unctuous elixir that coated every element of the plate in pure deliciousness. I considered asking for a straw. I resisted. Just. The service? Impeccable. Attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being overbearing. They clearly understood the gravity of the food they were serving and treated it (and us!) with the reverence it deserved. Honestly, if you haven't experienced the Sunday roast at The Talbot you haven't truly lived. It's not just a meal; it's a cultural event, a joyous celebration of everything that is good and right in the world. I'm already counting down the minutes until I can return. Go. Just go. Your taste buds will thank you. Your soul will thank you. You might even shed a little tear of pure, unadulterated Sunday dinner joy. You have been warned. It's that good.

A smart country pub, the hanging baskets impressed and were matched by the clean decor within. We all enjoyed the 3 courses for £15. What a bargain and what a lovely meal of generous portions. The staff were excellent and very attentive. We'll certainly enjoy a night there again. Hurworth schoolfriends 1975.

We recently visited with family and friends to celebrate our daughter’s 1st birthday. The staff were all so accommodating from me pre ordering and booking to the service on the day. Everyone’s food was amazing and the comments from us all “WE will be back”. Thank you again to Chris, Adam and all of the team!

Went for lunch today and was blown away. The staff were very helpful and pleasantly mannered. The menu is extensive and there were lots that I would like to try. I had the blade steak which was braised in a beefy mushroom sauce and my bro had the cooked seafood platter. The portion sizes were so good my bro couldn't finish his. The food was well presented and so amazingly flavourful. I eat out regularly and this was the best meal I have had in a long time. I will definitely be returning and I highly recommend it.

Lovely country pub. Clean and tidy. Service is great, local people representing their village. Very welcoming. Private rooms upstairs available larger groups too. Very much recommended for lunch or dinner. Parking out front, otherwise it’s street parking and very safe. Steps on entry, and quite narrow doorway so may struggle with wheelchair but easily big enough for a push chair. Beer garden for those warmer days.

The food is always excellent, from Sunday dinner to weekday lunch. The Sunday dinners are probably the bestcin the area. The staff are friendly but sometimes a bit shy as they tent to be young. Well behaved kids are fine but some customers need to control there kids and not let them run around.
